Run3rd® is an inspirational Twitter campaign, a global movement sharing dedications made on behalf of people's loved ones, causes and ideas. It was started by actor, activist and avid long-distance runner Sean Astin in January 2012, and has grown to encompass hundreds of runners, walkers and others around the globe who have taken its meaning and mission into their hearts.
Sean has been a long-distance runner since his teens. To date he has participated in ten marathons, including four LA Marathons, the San Francisco, Chicago, Marine Corp, Las Vegas Rock N Roll, Walt Disney World Marathon and the Boston Marathon. Sean's personal best for the marathon is 4:04. He’s done numerous half marathons and countless 5Ks, 10Ks, and races of other distances. From July 2006 through August 2013, he amassed more than 3,000 miles using his Nike+ sensor. He has recently moved into the world of triathlons, and on October 10, 2015, participated in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, HI, swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then completing a full 26.2 mile marathon.
